The following objectives of the Master´s program are pursued throughout its progress:

  • To achieve the required theoretical and methodological skills in the area of Occupational Health and Safety to carry through research projects on the subject matter.
  • To provide a wide range of tools and expertise on hygiene, environmental hazards, safety, and occupational health.
  • To provide intensive applied training on the different assessment tools and methods such that graduates may evaluate emergency hazards, as well as coordinate plans towards accident prevention, occupational safety, and the working environment.

The Master´s programs was created in 1996 with its curriculum approved by Resolution N° 307/96 of the Ministry of Education. It remained unchanged until the year 2000, when the program undergoes the accreditation process of CONEAU – which obtains under Resolution 234/00.

Following CONEAU´s recommendations, a non-structural curriculum reform is presented and approved by IESE. During this period, nine graduates completed their thesis project.

In 2001, the Master´s program adopts the reformed curriculum. Between 2001 and 2005, six new graduates complete their thesis project. The program was suspended until September 2009. Between 2009 and 1012, 40 candidates complete attendance of the program and 19 present their thesis plan.

In 2011, a line of research is created on Occupational Health and Safety in which two research groups – with the joint efforts of professors and students – work on:

  •  “Health and Safety in Nanotechnology” and
  •  “Occupational Pathology of Workers Exposed to Lead in Battery Manufacturing Facilities”
